China-bashing in an age of globalised supply chains has its consequences

You guys must have heard about the numerous recalls that a lot of the companies producing goods in China have made. Especially Mattel has been cacophonous in its declaration that the problem existed with its manufacturing partners in China. This was the botch of the century by a company that has long lost the aura that its poster toy, Barbie, held. I was stupefied by the sheer mental numbness of the impulse comment made by this company, especially when 65% of its toys are manufactured in that country. I have been waiting for the moment when a Chinese official forces Mattel to eat its own words and guess what, I have been proven right. Robert Eckert and Co. have learned a valuable lesson in corporate citizenship, "Don't bite the friggin' hand that feeds ya".
There is a nice little article in the Lex column here. If you can get to the end of this article, you will know why globalised is spelled so in this post title.

Leave some comments so that I know what you guys think about this.
